The Brief

We designed this central London apartment for a high-profile client who had absolutely no interest in fleeting trends. Her vision was beautifully clear: a personal palace inspired by the glamour of a luxury superyacht, demanding opulent gold details and strictly no beige.

Liquid Gold

The undeniable centrepiece is a bespoke island wrapped entirely in backlit Onyx. When the evening lights go down, the natural stone glows with a spectacular, warm amber fire that instantly sets the mood for entertaining.

The Details

To match the stone, we developed a custom Mirror Finish paint. This isn’t standard gloss; it’s an exhaustive process of painting, buffing, and polishing until you can see your reflection. We added gold trim detailing and brown leather panels— because if you’re going to do luxury, you might as well go all out.

The Finished Kitchen

This project is fearless. It combines backlit stone, high-gloss lacquer, and exotic leathers to create a home that is a serious statement of intent.

FAQs For This Kitchen Project

What was the inspiration behind this design?

This was never intended to be a conventional kitchen. The brief called for a space that felt deeply personal – something closer to a private members’ club or superyacht than a domestic setting.

The design embraces that vision unapologetically, layering rich materials, reflective surfaces and dramatic illumination to create an environment that feels immersive, expressive and entirely bespoke.

While the materials are undeniably opulent – backlit onyx, mirror-finish surfaces and gold accents – they are carefully composed through symmetry, repetition and clean architectural lines.

Each element is echoed elsewhere, allowing the eye to move through the space without interruption. The result is a scheme that feels deliberate and composed, rather than chaotic.

The onyx is the soul of the room. Bookmatched and backlit, it transforms from a surface into a living feature – its veining illuminated to reveal depth, warmth and movement.

As the light shifts, so too does the character of the space, creating a constantly evolving backdrop that anchors the entire design.

A statement Lofra Dolcevita 150cm Range Cooker forms the centrepiece, framed by a suite of Wolf appliances including a coffee system, warming drawer and combi oven.

Sub-Zero refrigeration and wine storage are seamlessly incorporated, ensuring the space functions at a professional level while maintaining its strong visual identity.

A rich palette of materials was selected to elevate touch and aesthetics. Quicksand Brown Granite worksurfaces are paired with a bespoke mirror-finish paint in a deep chocolate tone.

Gold hardware and detailing bring warmth and continuity, while leather panelling adds a subtle softness, balancing the high-gloss finishes.

It is the absence of compromise. Every detail, from the illuminated stone to the sculptural lighting installation, is designed to reflect the client’s vision without restraint.

This is a space that prioritises experience as much as function—where craftsmanship, materiality and atmosphere come together to create something entirely individual.
