The house had great bones: vaulted ceilings and exposed beams – but the layout felt disjointed. The client didn’t want a sterile showroom, they wanted a space that felt eclectic, soft, and welcoming: A home with a heartbeat.
In a room dominated by heavy timber beams, you can’t be shy. We designed a hand-painted canopy with fluted detailing inspired by Etruscan architecture. Underneath, we installed a backlit stone splashback. It glows with gold and soft blue veins, changing the mood of the room instantly when the sun goes down. It’s effective, atmospheric, and very cool.
We used Van Cronenburg antique brass handles again. They are the finishing touch in the design – heavy, tactile, and they only look better with age.
This kitchen isn’t just for show. Centred around a wide Fisher & Paykel range, we built custom pull-outs for oils and chopping boards. It means you can cook a roast for the whole extended family while being gentle on the worktops.
This kitchen is a great example of flow and efficiency. Whether it’s grandchildren making a mess at the island or a quiet coffee by the brick wall, it handles the chaos of family life with ease.
To deliver a curated, welcoming feel, we paired warm Cornsilk Oak cabinetry with contrasting Off-Black beams and dressers. This mix of light timber and bold, historic accents creates a grounded, lived-in space that feels like the true heart of the home.
To achieve this look, we paired van Cronenburg antique brass hardware with Etruscan-inspired silhouettes. These metallic elements, including a matching Quooker tap, offer a rich patina that contrasts beautifully with the Silestone work surfaces—blending old-world charm with modern utility.
The cooking area was designed to feel integrated and calm. We chose a Fisher & Paykel dual-fuel cooker for its blend of professional performance and sleek design and housed it beneath a clean, All White canopy. This minimalist approach to the extraction area allows the natural grain of the timber and the architectural black beams to remain the focus, ensuring the high-tech appliances don’t overwhelm the kitchen’s soft, domestic feel.
