The Brief

The clients reside in a property aptly named The White House, envisioning a design of uncompromising white and brass grandeur. The creative challenge? A spectacular, twenty-year-old antique mirror that was required to stand as the definitive centrepiece.

The Mirror and the Vein

Usually, we start with a floorplan. Here, we started with a reflection. We selected a spectacular XTONE stone for the island, specifically because its deep golden veins conversed perfectly with the antique mirror frame. In picking this worktop we found a partner for their favourite possession.

The Details

The central feature is a dramatic Waterfall Edge where the stone cascades vertically down the island sides. This required meticulous pattern matching to ensure the golden veins flow seamlessly over the joint without breaking the visual line.

Architectural Integration

Navigating the impressive 2.7-metre ceilings, we integrated the cabinetry architecturally by running it directly into the room’s original plaster coving rather than using a standard timber cornice, making the installation feel as though it has always belonged to the property.

The Finished Kitchen

Embracing a confident touch of bold colour, vibrant burnt orange velvet stools introduce a sophisticated punch of warmth. Set against the white-on-white palette, the beloved antique mirror takes centre stage, effortlessly transforming a pristine space into a deeply personal home

FAQs For This Finished Kitchen

How did you balance the minimalist aesthetic with such striking decorative details?

We utilised handleless cabinetry finished in Farrow & Ball All White to create a seamless, architectural backdrop, allowing the XTONE Paonazzo Biondo stone to take centre stage. To add a layer of personal character, we integrated the client’s own antique-style mirror as a primary focal point. This heritage piece, introduces a sense of history and scale that beautifully offsets the clean, contemporary lines of the room.

We positioned the dedicated breakfast station right next to the sink and Quooker tap so that making your morning coffee or bowl of cereal is completely effortless. It creates a lovely, self-contained area where everything you need is within arms reach, from the toaster to the dishwasher. By keeping the ‘morning rush’ tucked away behind those elegant bi-fold doors, the rest of the kitchen stays calm and clutter-free, ready for the day ahead.

The cooking area is anchored by the classic ILVE Milano suite, bringing a professional culinary edge to the home with a range cooker, oven and warming drawer. To support this high-performance set up, we integrated a bespoke cupboard with a built-in spice door rack right next to the range. It keeps every essential within arm’s reach, perfectly balancing the kitchen’s minimalist exterior with intricate, task-specific storage.
